What should I ask?
Pretty simple, ask whatever you want to know about. Try to keep it appropriate, but otherwise, just be yourself!

Q: Hey Reid! Just started listening to your music. All I can ask is when are you coming out to Australia!? Loving Rail!
Thanks!
Sam (Sydney, Australia)
A:
very kind of you Sam. Sure would love to head down under one day; travel time and finances permitting. Twould help to get invited to a festival or some such things, so please do contact those in your area and make a request - you never know! Australia and New Zealand has such great music already they might not need me....

Q: I was just wondering what you and the mrs. had planned for xmas and new years?
And...what do you have up your sleeves for the new year?
signed,
"A/ THe" fan.
A:
Hey there, a little late responing to this one, sorry! Allow me to wish you a very very happy and healthy new year. We dont celebrate xmas actually, and sadly we were in bed before midnight on new years eve thanks to having evil colds :( . That said Vday 2012 will be our 10th anniversary together (celebrating with a benefit show at the Railway in Vancouver!) and that makes us very happy. Also super stoked about first show in the US on Feb 24 in Seattle. Would like to play the pacific Northwest on a regular basis. So many new songs in the kitchen being cooked up right now, just got a new electric archtop, home studio humming away....very excited to feed your ears later this year so please stay tuned. Thank you for giving a poop!

Q: Is Reid still going to be performing at the Triple Door in Seattle on 2/24/2012? I checked the venue calendar and did not see anything listed about the concert
A:
That is a fact! The show will be in the Musicquarium Lounge so it might not make the 'concert listings' proper...or perhaps not just yet anyways. Hoping you will help us spread the word and come say howdy. So excited to play a show in the US for the first time. LOVE Seattle.

Q: A nerdy guitar question. What do you enjoy most about playing the nylon string guitar, and same question for the electric?
A:
sorry for the late reply! the nylon string is more like a voice, a whisper, a hum - and easy on the fingers! perfect for plucking heartstrings. the steel string has been neglected of late, sadly, but it has clarity and volume and suits certain songs best.

Q: i've had a truly shit day!...musician down the job centre..never a great experience..came home and my boiler is broken!..then fired up my pc and 'humankind'..truly made my day thankyou
A:
can't say its been a total shit show over here today BUT you have definitely made the day more AWESOME with your kind words. the thought that a song could cheer or soothe someone in need is the very heart of why it was written and recorded. here is another in the same vein from this collection we are working on. Q: I write songs and sing them for the joy of it, whether or not I have gigs. I hear that joy in your performing. Other than the music itself, what inspires you and keeps you going? Fan from USA.
A:
The joy of singing keeps us going around here too, that and the special feeling you get when somebody from the states actually heard of you...s'nice! Other things are good friends, healthy food, and nature. Nature is a big inspiration...

Q: Is the header on your home page a font? If so, where can I see the rest of it? It's great!
(Oh, yeah—love your music. Ever thought to try a heavy blues number?)
Linda
A:
The missus created that font just for the web site header, so am afraid it's not available but she will be tickled to hear you said so. Never tried anything to bluesy, any suggestions for a good cover to try out?

Q: hi Reid... huge fan... 2 queries that kind of lead into each other...1. how much $$ do you get from iTunes and MapleMusic sales ?? 2. buying direct at a show is better or does the house take a % ??
A:
It really boils down to what works best for the fan, whatever is most convenient for you. It's a funny thing these cd sales. On the one hand the artist makes more money selling cds directly (some venues and definitely festivals take a cut), but on the other hand when fans buy cds from the distributors and stores, it looks good on the artist, and so they keep them on their roster. Either way it's a good thing and we are all just tickled pink that anyone still buys records.
